Change How You Think About Stress

I used to worry about how the stress of school was affecting my health. I thought that it was bad or harmful to feel stressed, and I would end up worrying even more.


Now, I think of stress as my body’s way of preparing me for something important. I perform better under a reasonable level of stress, especially if it’s not prolonged.


My mindset around stress changed after I saw this Ted Talk by Stanford Psychologist Kelly McGonigal:



In it, she urges viewers to “see stress as a positive” since the belief that stress is harmful can make it so.
